Nat Sciver-Brunt scripted history at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Monday, becoming the first player to score a century in the Women’s Premier League. The Mumbai Indians vice-captain struck an unbeaten 100 off 57 balls, guiding MI to a 199 for 4 total and a 15-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a must-win contest.

Walking in with Mumbai struggling at 16 for 1, Sciver-Brunt steadied the innings and then accelerated dramatically. She shared a 131-run partnership with Hayley Matthews and later added 42 runs with Harmanpreet Kaur, giving MI the momentum they needed despite a slight slowdown at the death.

“I didn’t want to get out in the 90s after seeing a few close calls this season,” Sciver-Brunt said, adding that the focus remained on maximising runs for the team.

The England star dedicated the milestone to her wife Katherine Sciver-Brunt and their son Theodore, celebrating with a ‘T’ gesture. Matthews praised her teammate’s consistency, calling the knock “thoroughly deserved,” while RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana described Sciver-Brunt as a “world-class player.”

With 319 runs in six innings, an average of 79.75, and a strike rate close to 155, Sciver-Brunt now leads the Orange Cap race, further cementing her status as the WPL’s most consistent batter.
