Chennai: A fresh investigation has been launched after reports emerged that several foreign nationals of Indian origin may have participated in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly election, prompting scrutiny from central and state agencies working in coordination with the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Authorities are now examining cases where individuals reportedly travelled to Tamil Nadu before polling day and left the country within a few days after casting their votes.

Investigation Focus Shifts to Post-Poll Departures

According to official sources, investigators initially identified around 40 suspected cases involving foreign nationals of Indian origin who allegedly voted in the election. Following this, the probe has now expanded to track individuals who returned abroad shortly after voting day.
