VinFast Amio S Debuts as Affordable Urban EV Scooter

VinFast Launches Amio S: A New Version of Its Most Affordable Electric Scooter

VinFast has introduced the Amio S, a new addition to its budget-friendly electric scooter lineup. Designed for urban commuters and first-time EV users, the Amio S builds on the original Amio while offering several modifications to improve ride comfort and practicality.

At first glance, the Amio S looks nearly identical to the standard Amio. It retains the same modern styling, compact dimensions, and colour choices that made the original model appealing to young riders and city commuters. However, the key differences lie beneath the bodywork.

The new Amio S is equipped with a 240W electric motor, which produces slightly less power than the 350W unit found in the regular Amio. This adjustment has resulted in lower top speeds, with the scooter capable of reaching 25 km/h in Sport mode and 20 km/h in Eco mode. Despite the reduced power output, the scooter remains well-suited for short-distance travel and everyday city use.

Power is supplied by a 1.024 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, the same battery technology used in the standard Amio. VinFast claims the scooter can travel approximately 65 kilometres on a full charge, making it a practical option for daily commuting, school runs, and local errands. The battery is mounted beneath the floorboard, helping maintain a low centre of gravity and enhancing overall stability.

Unlike some of VinFast’s other electric two-wheelers, the Amio S does not support battery-swapping or battery-rental services. Owners will need to charge the battery directly, which may appeal to users who prefer a straightforward ownership experience without subscription-based battery plans.

VinFast has also revised several dimensions of the scooter. The wheelbase has been extended to 1,230 mm, making it 62 mm longer than the original Amio. This increase is expected to provide better balance and a smoother ride, particularly on uneven urban roads. Additionally, the ground clearance has been reduced to 120 mm, which may contribute to improved handling and rider confidence.

With the launch of the Amio S, VinFast continues to strengthen its presence in the growing electric mobility market. By offering an affordable, efficient, and user-friendly scooter, the company aims to attract a wider range of customers looking for environmentally friendly transportation solutions.

The Amio S represents a practical alternative for riders who prioritise comfort, efficiency, and affordability, further expanding VinFast’s portfolio of electric vehicles designed for modern urban lifestyles.
