5.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Himachal, Tremors Felt Across Region

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck parts of Himachal Pradesh late Friday night, causing tremors across several districts and neighbouring states. According to the meteorological department, the earthquake occurred at approximately 10:04 PM and had a shallow depth of just 5 kilometres, making the tremors more noticeable in affected regions.

The epicentre was located near Dhar Godoi in Kangra district, around 40 kilometres from Dharamsala and close to the Kangra-Chamba border. Residents in Kangra, Chamba, and nearby districts reported feeling strong tremors, prompting many people to move out of their homes and buildings as a precautionary measure.

The earthquake's shallow depth contributed to the intensity of the shaking felt across the region. Tremors were also experienced in adjoining areas of neighbouring states, although no immediate reports of major damage or casualties were received.
