Delhi-NCR Weather Update: Rain, Dust Storm Bring Relief From Heatwave, Temperature Drops to 38°C

Delhi-NCR woke up to sudden weather changes on Wednesday as intense dust storms, followed by rainfall, swept across the region, offering much-needed relief from the ongoing heatwave. The extreme weather conditions were triggered by western disturbances, which led to rapid atmospheric changes and cloud formation over the capital region.

According to updates, the maximum temperature—earlier expected to reach around 41°C—is now likely to settle closer to 38°C due to early morning showers. Parts of Delhi and the surrounding NCR region experienced strong winds, lightning, and heavy cloud cover, disrupting the usual hot, dry conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued a Yellow Alert for heatwave conditions, as temperatures had recently surged up to 44.5°C in some areas. However, the sudden rain and dust storm activity brought a sharp drop in temperatures, providing temporary relief to residents.

Meteorological experts say such weather changes are common during transitional periods when western disturbances interact with hot continental air masses. This leads to unstable atmospheric conditions, resulting in thunderstorms, dust storms, and short spells of rain.

More showers are expected during the day, which may further ease the heat intensity across Delhi-NCR. Authorities have advised citizens to stay cautious due to possible strong winds and reduced visibility during storm activity.

Overall, the weather shift has brought a welcome break from extreme heat, with cooler conditions likely to persist temporarily across the region.
