Weather Forecast for January 30, 2026: Cold Wave Continues, Heavy Rain Alert in North India

While a severe cold wave continues to grip several parts of the country, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has once again issued a heavy rain and thunderstorm warning for five states in North India. Strong winds with speeds of 40–45 km/h are also expected. In addition, severe cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in 19 cities, with special advisories issued for children and the elderly.

Meanwhile, life has been disrupted in hilly states due to snowfall. Several national highways have been affected, making vehicular movement extremely difficult.

According to the IMD, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh are likely to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Winds may blow at speeds of 30–40 km/h, which could lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures.

• Rain is expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh on February 1

• Rajasthan may receive rainfall on January 31

Cold Wave Warning in 21 Districts of North India

The IMD has issued a cold wave alert for several districts across North India.

Uttar Pradesh:

Cold wave conditions with wind speeds of 10–15 km/h are expected in:

• Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Kanpur, Bareilly, Amethi, Bijnor, Aligarh, Agra, Mathura, Muzaffarnagar, and Meerut

Haryana:

• Gurugram, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Charkhi Dadri, Sonipat, and Panipat

Punjab:

• Mansa, Bathinda, Barnala, Muktsar, and Fazilka

Morning hours will remain extremely cold in these regions.

Delhi Weather Forecast

IMD predicts rainfall in Delhi on February 1 and February 3 with wind speeds of 15–20 km/h.

For January 30, Delhi will witness intense cold in the morning, followed by bright sunshine after 10 AM, providing some relief.

Uttar Pradesh Weather Forecast

Dense fog has been forecast in more than 15 districts of Uttar Pradesh on January 30, including:

• Saharanpur, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Bijnor, Meerut, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow, Barabanki, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Kushinagar, and Pratapgarh

In Lucknow, cloudy skies are expected during the day.

Bihar Weather Forecast

Most districts in Bihar will experience light winds of 10–15 km/h during the morning hours. Moderate to dense fog is expected in:

Frost is likely to occur in several districts, including:
