AP Gramakantam Land Registration 2026: Houses and Plots Allowed Without Documents
Andhra Pradesh allows Gramakantam land and house registrations without old documents. Self-certification and tax receipts can now be used for registration.
Andhra Pradesh Eases Registration Process for Gramakantam Houses and Plots
The Andhra Pradesh government has introduced a major relief for residents living in Gramakantam areas by simplifying the registration process for houses and plots. Authorities have now been instructed to allow registrations even if applicants do not possess old land records or link documents, particularly in cases involving ancestral or inherited properties.
Under the revised guidelines, individuals without complete ownership documents can submit self-declaration certificates while applying for registration. Officials have also been directed to accept supporting evidence such as house tax receipts, vacant land tax receipts, and other available proof to complete the process.
Big Relief for Families Living on Gramakantam Lands
Gramakantam lands generally refer to residential areas situated within villages. Many families have occupied these lands for decades, but proper revenue records were never maintained for several old properties.
Because of missing link documents and outdated records, registrations of houses and plots in these areas were delayed for years. In many cases, inherited properties could not be legally transferred due to a lack of documentation.
The latest decision by the state government is expected to benefit thousands of families struggling with property registration issues.
Registration Possible for Certain Prohibited Lands
The government has also directed officials to examine cases where residential properties are listed under prohibited categories. If people are already living on such lands or using them for housing purposes, authorities may grant exemptions after reviewing available evidence and documents.
However, the relaxation will not apply to lands reserved for government projects, public utilities, or social welfare purposes.
Confusion Over Gramakantam Lands Since 2015
Although Gramakantam lands were removed from the Section 22A prohibited properties list in 2015, several survey numbers continued to appear as government lands in official records. This created confusion during registrations and prevented many property owners from obtaining legal documentation.
In addition, numerous old village residential properties were never officially recorded in revenue documents, making it difficult for owners to establish ownership rights.
The newly issued guidelines are expected to streamline the registration process and provide legal clarity for residents owning houses and plots in Gramakantam areas across Andhra Pradesh.
