Cybercrime Crackdown: Telangana Launches ‘Operation Crack Down 2.0’ Across the State

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau has intensified its efforts to curb rising cybercrimes in the state by launching a large-scale initiative named ‘Operation Crack Down 2.0’. The operation is being carried out in coordination with the law and order police across Telangana.

Director General of Police Shikha Goel announced the statewide operation, stating that the primary aim is to prevent repeat offences by previously arrested cybercriminals and strengthen cyber safety mechanisms.

3,567 Cybercriminals Arrested in 2024–25

According to officials, a total of 3,567 cyber offenders were arrested across Telangana between 2024 and 2025.

Out of them:

* 614 are from Telangana
* 269 are mule account holders
* 155 are agents involved in cyber fraud networks
* 36 are linked to Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) cases
* Others include fake SIM dealers, cyber slavery networks, and even some bank employees

Authorities have confirmed that surveillance is being maintained on the previously arrested offenders, especially those still suspected of involvement in cyber-related crimes.

Massive Enforcement Drive with 300 Teams

To execute the operation effectively, the Cyber Security Bureau has formed nearly 300 specialised teams under the leadership of DG Shikha Goel. These teams are working across districts to identify, track, and take action against cybercrime networks.

The key goals of the operation include:

* Preventing repeat cyber offences
* Tracking and monitoring habitual offenders
* Breaking organised cyber fraud networks
* Strengthening digital safety across the state

The Telangana police have reiterated that cybercrime prevention remains a top priority, and strict action will continue against those involved in online fraud and digital crimes.
