Trump Supports Iran War Plan, Hints at Escalation

Donald Trump defends U.S. action in the Iran conflict, hints at escalation, and addresses the global oil crisis amid uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz.

In a nationally televised speech on April 1, Donald Trump presented a firm and unapologetic defence of his administration’s actions in the ongoing conflict with Iran. He described the military campaign as decisive and effective, asserting that U.S. forces had dealt a major blow to Iran’s defence systems and strategic infrastructure.

Trump maintained that the operation was progressing rapidly and could reach its objectives soon, but he deliberately avoided offering a specific timeline for ending the war. Instead, he emphasised

a short-term escalation strategy, indicating that the next two to three weeks would involve intensified strikes aimed at forcing Iran into compliance with U.S. demands.

He also made it clear that the situation could worsen if diplomatic efforts fail. Trump warned that the U.S. is prepared to expand its targets to include Iran’s oil and energy sectors, which could significantly deepen the conflict and further disrupt global markets.

While acknowledging the broader impact of the war, including rising oil prices and global uncertainty, Trump did not provide clarity on the future of the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway remains a critical factor in the crisis, and its continued disruption has amplified fears of a prolonged energy shock worldwide.
