Bahraich: Instalments for more than 20,000 farmers in the district under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana have been temporarily suspended due to discrepancies found in beneficiary records. Officials stated that the pending payments will be credited to farmers’ bank accounts only after the errors in their details are corrected.
According to Deputy Director of Agriculture Vinay Kumar Verma, several types of data mismatches have been identified during verification. In aro
und 17,325 cases, information related to the previous landowner was not recorded properly. In 2,515 cases, the names of deceased landowners were not removed from the portal, leading to duplicate payments to two different accounts. Additionally, about 2,510 cases involved errors linked to name transfers that were not carried out due to inheritance, causing further complications.
The Agriculture Department has urged affected farmers to promptly update their information using the ‘Update Missing Information’ option available on the official PM-KISAN portal. Once the corrections are completed and verified, the stalled instalments will be released to eligible beneficiaries.
Officials emphasised that farmers should not panic and should complete the correction process as soon as possible to avoid further delays in receiving financial assistance under the scheme.
