JSW MG Motor’s Upcoming SUVs for India: Jetour T2 Hybrid & Chery iCar V23 – Full Details

Following the strong market response to the Windsor EV, JSW MG Motor India is gearing up to expand its SUV portfolio with two exciting new models. To maintain its growth momentum, the company has partnered with Chinese automotive giant Chery Automobile to introduce two premium SUVs in the Indian market — the Jetour T2 Hybrid and the Chery iCar V23. Both vehicles are expected to bring fresh design language, advanced technology, and powerful performance to the competitive SUV segment.

Let’s take a detailed look at what these two upcoming SUVs have to offer.

Jetour T2 Hybrid – Premium Plug-in Hybrid SUV

The Jetour T2 Hybrid will be the first new SUV from JSW MG Motor under this partnership and is expected to debut in India by Q3 2026. The SUV will be locally assembled at JSW’s upcoming greenfield manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.

Design & Dimensions

The Jetour T2 Hybrid features a bold and rugged boxy design, making it stand out in the premium SUV segment. It will measure approximately 4.7 metres in length, 2 metres in width, and have a wheelbase of 2.8 metres, making it slightly larger than the Tata Safari. Globally, it is offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations; however, the seating layout for India has yet to be confirmed.

Powertrain & Performance

For the Indian market, the Jetour T2 will be offered exclusively with Chery’s i-DM plug-in hybrid technology. Under the hood, it features a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 154 bhp and 220 Nm. This is paired with dual front-mounted electric motors, delivering a combined output of 221 bhp and 390 Nm of torque.

The SUV also comes equipped with a 26.7 kWh battery pack, providing a pure electric driving range of up to 139 km (NEDC cycle). This setup ensures excellent fuel efficiency along with strong performance.

Expected Price

The Jetour T2 Hybrid is expected to be priced at around ₹35 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it in the premium SUV segment.

Chery iCar V23 – Retro-Modern Electric SUV

The second model planned for India is the Chery iCar V23, a stylish and rugged electric SUV. Recently, its camouflaged test mule was spotted undergoing road testing, indicating that its India launch preparations are well underway.

Design & Styling

The iCar V23 boasts a retro-modern off-road-inspired design, drawing visual cues from the iconic Toyota Land Cruiser J40. Key design highlights include round LED headlights, dual-layer LED DRLs, an upright front fascia, flared wheel arches, chunky fender flares, and concealed door handles — all contributing to its bold road presence.

Dimensions & Positioning

The SUV measures approximately 4.2 metres in length, 1.9 metres in width, and 1.8 metres in height, with a wheelbase of 2.7 metres. It will be slightly smaller than the Tata Sierra. EV and Hyundai Creta Electric, but will closely match the size of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.

Powertrain & Features

While official powertrain specifications are yet to be revealed, the iCar V23 is expected to offer multiple battery pack options, modern infotainment features, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and connected car technology, making it a strong contender in the mid-size electric SUV space.

Final Thoughts

With the introduction of the Jetour T2 Hybrid and Chery iCar V23, JSW MG Motor India aims to strengthen its position in both hybrid and electric SUV segments. These launches will not only diversify MG’s product lineup but also bring cutting-edge global technology to Indian customers.

Both SUVs are expected to attract buyers looking for premium styling, advanced powertrains, and future-ready mobility solutions.
