Tragedy in the Skies: Plane Crash Claims Over 60 Lives
A plane crash in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo took more than 60 lives.
The plane was flying from Cascavel in the southern state of Parana to Guarulhos airport in Sao Paulo city. This plane was carrying 57 passengers and four crew. Local authorities say there were no survivors.
Voepass Airline says it came down in the town of Vinhedo. In this clash, 61 people died.
In consolation, President Lula da Silva embraced the relatives and friends of the dead; he cried with them.
So did Governor Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, declaring three days of mourning in São Paulo.
This was a major breakthrough in the inquiry process: recovering the flight recorders—a critical finding that should provide some answers regarding the circumstances of the accident. ATR joined immediately, stressing the need for transparency and cooperation in search of answers, an important aspect of this plane accident.
No one on the ground is injured because the plane is landed on a residential area.
One particular stroke of luck was that, despite the blaze having gutted a big area and sending plumes of smoke billowing into the air, only one house was affected in this crowded condominium complex.
As emergency responders rush to the scene, residents breathed easy that destruction was not more widespread, and investigators begin the painstaking process of determining what caused the fire.
