Petrol, Diesel Prices Today: Fuel Rate Hike Speculation Grows

Petrol and diesel prices remained in focus on Monday as discussions around a possible fuel price revision intensified following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks in Hyderabad.

During his address on Sunday, the Prime Minister urged citizens to use petrol and diesel carefully amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia. His statement has sparked fresh speculation about a potential increase in fuel and LPG cylinder prices after the Assembly elections.

The discussions come at a time when global crude oil prices continue to rise sharply. On Monday, international crude prices crossed the USD 104 per barrel mark after comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Iran’s latest proposal added uncertainty to the global energy market.

Despite the speculation, the Indian government has repeatedly denied reports suggesting an immediate hike in petrol and diesel prices. Officials have maintained that there is no confirmed decision regarding a fuel price revision at present.

Rising crude oil prices, however, remain a major concern for India due to the country’s heavy dependence on oil imports. Increasing import costs could also put pressure on foreign exchange reserves and domestic inflation.

Meanwhile, consumers across the country continue to closely monitor daily petrol and diesel rates in major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
