Meesho Says Over 70% of Its Code Is AI-Generated as Company Expands AI Push.

SoftBank-backed e-commerce platform Meesho is significantly increasing its focus on artificial intelligence, with CEO Vidit Aatrey revealing that more than 70% of the company’s code is now generated using AI tools.

The announcement came through Meesho’s annual shareholder letter released alongside its Q4 FY26 financial results. According to Aatrey, the company has adopted AI as a core part of its technology and product development strategy to improve speed, efficiency, and reliability across operations.

“We have made a deliberate bet on AI as the operating system for how we build,” Aatrey stated, adding that AI-assisted development has helped the company launch products faster than ever before while maintaining strong reliability standards.

Meesho said artificial intelligence is now deeply integrated into its software development lifecycle. AI tools are being used for code generation, automated testing, code reviews, deployment fixes, and production monitoring. The company believes this approach allows engineering teams to focus more on innovation and product enhancement.

Beyond software development, Meesho is also expanding AI usage across customer-facing services and e-commerce infrastructure. The platform is reportedly working on AI-powered voice shopping assistants, automated customer support systems, and vernacular address mapping tools aimed at improving accessibility for users across India.

The company sees AI as a key driver for the future of online commerce, especially in a diverse market like India, where regional languages and simplified user experiences play a major role in digital adoption.

Meesho’s growing investment in AI highlights the broader trend among Indian technology companies leveraging automation and generative AI to streamline operations, improve scalability, and enhance customer engagement.
