BorgWarner will supply VTG turbochargers and EGR coolers for a major European OEM’s Euro 7-compliant heavy-duty diesel engine platform by 2028.
BorgWarner Wins Major European OEM Deal for Euro 7 Diesel Engine Components
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 6, 2026 — BorgWarner has secured a new business agreement with a leading European commercial vehicle manufacturer to supply its advanced Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) turbocharger and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler for a next-generation Euro 7-compliant heavy-duty diesel engine platform.
The components will be integrated into a 6-cylinder engine designed for long-haul truck applications, helping the OEM meet stricter emissions regulations while improving fuel efficiency and overall vehicle performance. Production for the program is expected to begin by the end of 2028.
According to BorgWarner, the VTG turbocharger has been specially engineered for the platform with a customised turbine housing and cartridge design to deliver enhanced performance under demanding operating conditions. The system also features ball-bearing technology for faster transient response and improved fuel economy, along with a high-efficiency compressor optimised for heavy-duty usage.
The company’s EGR cooler includes an advanced internal plate structure that improves thermal efficiency and exhaust gas recirculation performance. A floating core architecture has also been incorporated to increase durability and withstand severe thermal cycling often experienced in commercial vehicle operations.
Dr Volker Weng, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager of Turbo and Thermal Technologies, stated that the agreement strengthens the company’s long-term relationship with the customer and expands BorgWarner’s position in the commercial vehicle sector.
Manufacturing of the turbocharger and EGR cooler will take place at BorgWarner facilities in Bradford, United Kingdom, and Vigo, Spain, supporting the customer’s European production strategy.
BorgWarner, a global mobility technology company with more than 130 years of industry experience, continues to focus on sustainable and efficient transportation solutions aimed at supporting cleaner and safer mobility worldwide.
