CNG Prices Hiked Again in Delhi and North India Today

CNG prices were increased once again on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, marking the fourth hike within just eleven days across Delhi and several parts of North India. The latest revision raised the price of Compressed Natural Gas by ₹2 per kilogram, pushing rates higher amid rising input costs linked to ongoing tensions in West Asia.

Following the latest increase, CNG in Delhi is now priced at ₹83.09 per kg. The repeated hikes have significantly impacted consumers, especially commercial vehicle operators and daily commuters who rely heavily on CNG-powered transport.

Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), the largest city gas distributor in North India, implemented the latest revision. With this adjustment, CNG prices have cumulatively increased by ₹6 per kilogram over four separate revisions in less than two weeks.

The series of hikes began on May 15, when prices were raised by ₹2 per kg. Additional increases of ₹1 per kg each followed on May 17 and May 23. Tuesday’s ₹2 hike has now taken the total increase to ₹6 per kg.

Industry experts suggest that the price revisions are primarily driven by higher gas procurement costs and global energy market uncertainties caused by geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Other city gas distribution companies across India have also reportedly revised their prices in a phased manner, reflecting similar market pressures.

The continued rise in CNG prices is expected to affect transportation costs and may eventually influence fares and logistics expenses in multiple sectors.
