Maruti Suzuki is preparing an exciting lineup of upcoming vehicles, and in a rare sighting, three heavily camouflaged test mules were recently spotted testing together. These include the next-generation Maruti YMC EV, the Brezza Facelift, and the Baleno Facelift. The spy shots hint at Maruti’s aggressive strategy to strengthen its position in both the electric vehicle and premium passenger car segments.
The most interesting among the three is undoubtedly the upcoming Maruti YMC EV, which is expected to become the brand’s second battery-electric vehicle after the eVitara. Reports suggest that the YMC could launch by late 2026 or sometime in 2027.
Maruti YMC EV – What We Know So Far
Internally codenamed YMC, this upcoming model is believed to be Maruti Suzuki’s first-ever electric MPV. Once launched, it could compete with rivals such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the Mahindra XEV 9S.
The YMC is expected to be based on Maruti’s dedicated EV skateboard platform, known as the Heartect-e / 27PL architecture, which will also underpin future electric models from the company.
Exterior Design Details
The front design of the YMC appears to borrow styling inspiration from the upcoming eVitara EV. Despite the heavy camouflage, several design elements are noticeable:
A layered front bumper design similar to the eVitara
Sleek lower grille with a slatted pattern
Squared wheel arches for a rugged appearance
Aero-optimized alloy wheels
Flat body panels with clean surfacing
Conventional door handles
Straight window line for enhanced cabin space
The roofline slightly tapers toward the rear, giving the MPV a balanced and modern profile. Ground clearance also appears suitable for Indian road conditions, while the large windows suggest a spacious cabin experience.
Rear Profile
At the rear, the test mule features:
A rear wiper
Slightly raked rear windshield
Flat tailgate design
Chunky rear bumper
Most styling elements remain hidden under camouflage, but the overall silhouette indicates a practical family-focused electric MPV.
Interior & Features Expected
The YMC EV is likely to share several premium features with the eVitara. Higher variants could include:
Dual integrated infotainment and instrument screens
Automatic climate control
Reclining seats

Maruti is also expected to focus heavily on safety and technology with this EV.
Advanced Safety Features
The upcoming YMC could offer a strong safety package, including Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features such as:
Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)
Adaptive Cruise Control
Lane Keep Assist
Blind Spot Monitoring
Forward Collision Warning
Standard safety features may include:
7 airbags
Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
Hill Hold Assist
Front and rear parking sensors
Multi-collision braking system
Brezza & Baleno Facelifts Also Incoming
Alongside the YMC EV, Maruti Suzuki was also seen testing updated versions of the Brezza and Baleno. Both models are expected to receive refreshed styling, feature upgrades, and improved technology to stay competitive in their respective segments.
More details regarding these upcoming Maruti vehicles are expected to emerge in the coming months as testing continues across India.
