Tata Sierra EV Launch Expected Between July and September 2026
Tata Motors is preparing to introduce the highly anticipated Tata Sierra EV in the Indian market during the July–September 2026 period. Reviving the iconic Sierra nameplate from the 1990s, the upcoming electric SUV combines retro-inspired styling with advanced electric mobility technology and premium features.
Built on Tata’s advanced acti. EV architecture, the Sierra EV will share its platform with models like the Tata Curvv EV and Tata Punch EV. This dedicated EV platform is designed to support larger battery packs, spacious interiors, and improved driving dynamics. The Sierra EV is expected to be positioned above the Curvv EV and below the flagship Tata Harrier EV in Tata’s growing electric SUV lineup.
The upcoming SUV is likely to offer two battery pack options — a 55kWh battery borrowed from the Curvv EV and a larger 65kWh battery similar to the Harrier EV. Tata Motors is expected to provide a claimed driving range of approximately 540km to 600km on a single charge under ARAI testing conditions, while the real-world range could be around 400km to 450km depending on driving conditions and usage.
The lower variants of the Sierra EV are expected to feature a front-wheel-drive configuration, while higher trims may come equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup for enhanced performance and better traction. The SUV will also support up to 100kW DC fast charging, allowing quicker charging times for long-distance travel convenience.
In terms of technology and safety, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to come loaded with modern features, including Level 2+ ADAS, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, along with a 360-degree surround-view camera for improved visibility and safety.
The production-spec Sierra EV will closely resemble the concept versions showcased at earlier Auto Expos. One of its biggest highlights will be the return of the iconic wraparound rear glass design, a signature styling element from the original Sierra SUV of the 1990s. The SUV will feature a bold and upright stance, high ground clearance, connected LED lighting elements, and a modern boxy silhouette that enhances its premium lifestyle appeal.
Inside the cabin, the Sierra EV is expected to offer a futuristic and tech-rich interior. It will feature a triple-screen dashboard layout, including a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch passenger entertainment display, and a 10-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The spacious cabin design and large glass area are likely to create an airy and comfortable driving experience.
Premium comfort and convenience features will include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated powered front seats, auto-dimming IRVM, electronic parking brake with auto hold, wireless connectivity features, and connected car technology. With a combination of nostalgic design elements, modern EV performance, and advanced technology, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to become one of the most exciting electric SUV launches in India in 2026.
