In the Paris Olympics 2024, Lakshya Sen creates history by going to the Semifinals in Badminton on Aug 02, Friday. He is the first Indian Badminton player to go to the semi-finals in the Olympics. He won over Taiwan's Chou Tien Chen by scoring 19-21, 21-15, 21-12.

 A 22-year-old boy, Sen from Almora played against the World’s number 11 player from Taiwan, excellently. On Thursday, PV Sindhu and the duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were eliminated from games after losing their matches. 

Coming to Sen, in the match, after losing the first set, he concentrated on winning the remaining two sets. His consistency and skill made him win the two sets and he qualified for the semi-finals in Men’s badminton. He gives hope to the Indians for the next medal in the Olympics.

In a press conference, the Sen expressed their excitement, stating, "I never imagined this would happen. It feels incredibly rewarding. More work remains to be done. Now comes the true test. I have 48 hours to recover and prepare for the next match. I must give my 100 percent. Despite his strength at the net, I attempted to broaden the scope of the game.”

On Wednesday afternoon, Sen showcased his exceptional technical mastery, captivating onlookers with his dazzling play as he advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the Olympics. However, it was a single, mesmerizing shot that truly left everyone, including his opponent Jonatan Christie, utterly awestruck - a breathtaking behind-the-back return. This display of sheer brilliance and athleticism earned the young star widespread acclaim, with business leaders Anand Mahindra and Harsh Goenka publicly commending his impressive performance.

Per the report from PTI, Sen's next challenge will be against the victor of the match-up between Singapore's reigning World Champion Loh Kean Yew, and Denmark's Olympic gold medalist Viktor Axelsen. The young Indian shuttler is set to face off against the winner of this highly anticipated semi-final clash.
