Royal Enfield Shotgun 650-Based Reload 650 Custom Motorcycle Unveiled
A striking new custom motorcycle based on the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 has been unveiled at The One Motorcycle Show in the United States. Named the Reload 650, the one-off creation has been designed by Thor Drake of See See Motorcycles and pays tribute to the iconic AMA racing motorcycles of the 1980s.
The Reload 650 takes inspiration from classic superbikes of the golden racing era, featuring a sharply styled rear section, a retro boxy tail unit, and a minimalist solo-seat setup. Its aggressive stance and race-inspired proportions give the motorcycle a completely different personality compared to the standard Shotgun 650.
Built around the platform of the Shotgun 650, the custom motorcycle features several premium upgrades that enhance both aesthetics and performance. One of the standout additions is the upgraded suspension setup, which enhances handling and stability. The bike also features a lightweight 2-into-1 S&S exhaust system that not only improves exhaust flow but also gives the motorcycle a deeper and more aggressive exhaust note.
The front design retains the muscular appeal of the original motorcycle while incorporating race-focused styling cues. Wider handlebars, a low-slung profile, and custom detailing further add to the vintage racing character of the Reload 650. The custom paint scheme, inspired by classic AMA race machines, completes the motorcycle’s retro-modern appearance.
Interestingly, this is the second major Shotgun 650-based custom showcased at The One Motorcycle Show. Last year, a custom build from Winston Yeh and Rough Crafts drew significant attention for its unique styling and craftsmanship. However, the Reload 650 adopts a more radical approach, blending vintage racing heritage with modern custom engineering.
The motorcycle highlights the growing popularity of the Shotgun 650 platform among custom builders worldwide. With its versatile chassis, parallel-twin engine, and retro-inspired design language, the bike has become a favourite canvas for creative motorcycle projects.
The Reload 650 is currently a one-off concept build and is not expected to enter production, but it showcases the immense customisation potential of Royal Enfield’s 650cc platform.
