Horse Powertrain Unveils Lightweight Hybrid V6 at Beijing Auto Show 2026

Beijing, China – April 22, 2026:
Horse Powertrain has introduced its first-ever production-ready V6 engine, the HORSE W30, ahead of its official showcase at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. Designed with a hybrid-first approach, the new engine focuses on delivering strong performance while maintaining high efficiency and reduced emissions.

A New Benchmark in V6 Engineering

The HORSE W30 marks the company’s entry into the V6 engine segment, building on its expertise in smaller engine platforms. This 3.0-litre engine is engineered to be one of the lightest in its class, weighing only 160 kg—around 10 kg lighter than competing V6 engines currently available.

Its flexible design allows installation in both transverse and longitudinal layouts, making it suitable for a wide range of vehicles. The 90-degree cylinder arrangement helps lower the centre of gravity, improving vehicle dynamics and simplifying integration.

Power Meets Efficiency

The engine delivers impressive performance, producing between 350 kW and 400 kW of power and 600 Nm to 700 Nm of torque, with a maximum speed of 8,000 rpm. Advanced features such as integrated exhaust manifolds and turbochargers mounted directly on the cylinder heads enhance fuel efficiency and overall performance.

Built for Hybrid Mobility

The HORSE W30 is specifically designed for use in mild and full hybrid vehicles. It will be paired with the newly developed HORSE 4LDHT four-speed hybrid transmission, reinforcing the company’s focus on electrified mobility.

The transmission weighs 199 kg and supports a P1 + P3 motor configuration. The P1 motor assists the engine and charges the battery, while the P3 motor contributes to vehicle propulsion, delivering high output for enhanced driving performance.

Market Launch and Future Plans

Vehicles powered by the HORSE W30 are expected to hit the roads by 2028. The engine and its hybrid system will be showcased at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, where Horse Powertrain will also present its broader innovation strategy.

Leadership Insights

CEO Matias Giannini highlighted that the W30 demonstrates the company’s vision of delivering scalable and efficient powertrain solutions for automakers worldwide. CTO Fortune Zhao added that the engine reflects the company’s engineering strength, offering a compact, lightweight, and high-performance hybrid solution.
