Delhi-NCR Weather Update: Rain to Ease Soon Across Delhi, Noida and Gurugram

A fresh spell of rain and thunderstorms has brought a noticeable shift in weather across the National Capital Region, with the India Meteorological Department placing the region under a yellow alert for April 8, 2026. The day is unfolding with overcast skies, occasional showers, and brief but intense thunderstorm activity, accompanied by gusty winds that are sweeping across parts of the NCR.

The rainfall is not expected to be continuous, but rather arrive in short bursts through the day, creating fluctuating conditions between cloudy calm and sudden downpours. These changes have also led to a slight dip in daytime temperatures, offering temporary relief from the early summer heat that had begun to build up over the past few days.

Looking ahead, the weather is set to stabilise fairly quickly. By April 9, conditions across Delhi and its neighbouring cities are expected to improve, with partly cloudy skies replacing the intense cloud cover and rain activity reducing significantly. The atmosphere will feel comparatively calmer, with moderate temperatures hovering around 31°C during the day and dipping to nearly 17°C at night, making for a relatively pleasant transition period.

From April 10 onward, the region is likely to experience clear skies and dry weather, with no significant rainfall activity expected until at least April 13. This shift signals a return to more typical April conditions, where sunshine dominates and temperatures gradually begin to rise again.

The primary driver behind this brief spell of unsettled weather is an active Western Disturbance affecting northern India. Such systems are known to bring cloud formation, rainfall, and stronger winds, often resulting in short-lived but impactful weather changes. As this system weakens and moves away, its influence on the region will fade, allowing stable weather patterns to re-establish.

In essence, while April 8 continues to see rain and thunderstorms across Delhi-NCR, the disruption is temporary, and clearer, drier days are just around the corner.
