Zoho’s Sridhar Vembu Suggests Fresh Tamil Nadu Polls Without ‘Cash for Votes’
Sridhar Vembu has sparked political discussion in Tamil Nadu after calling for fresh elections conducted without the influence of “cash for votes,” amid ongoing developments following the 2026 Assembly elections.
The remarks come at a time when Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is actively exploring possibilities to form the government despite falling short of a majority in the recently concluded elections.
TVK made a strong electoral debut and emerged as one of the biggest talking points of the election season. However, the party currently lacks the required numbers to independently form the government, prompting discussions with multiple political parties and alliance partners.
According to reports, senior TVK leaders recently met Edappadi K. Palaniswami at his residence in Chennai. Palaniswami’s All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) had contested the elections in alliance with the BJP.
TVK has also reportedly initiated talks with Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), which secured four seats in the Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress has publicly indicated support for Vijay, stating that his alliance does not include “communal forces that do not believe in the Constitution of India.” Other political parties, however, are yet to officially announce their stand on supporting a potential TVK-led government.
Adding to the political developments, Vijay met Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Wednesday and formally staked claim to form the government.
The evolving political situation in Tamil Nadu continues to attract significant attention as alliance discussions and government formation efforts remain underway.
