World Cancer Day 2026: Manipal Hosts Awareness Bike Rally

Manipal Observes World Cancer Day 2026 with Community Bike Rally

Manipal: To commemorate  World Cancer Day 2026 on  February 4, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, organised a public awareness bike rally aimed at educating people about cancer prevention and the importance of early diagnosis. The rally was held under the banner “Together We Ride for Life Against Cancer.”

The initiative brought together multiple automobile and rider groups, including the Manipal Auto Club, Udupi Jawa-Yezdi Motorcycle Club, Royal Enfield Riders Udupi, and Abarana Motors, Udupi. Enthusiastic riders took part in the rally, spreading messages on healthy living and timely medical check-ups as effective tools in reducing cancer risk.

Health experts associated with the event highlighted that cancer continues to pose a serious global health threat. Factors such as tobacco consumption, alcohol abuse, poor nutrition, physical inactivity, and rising air pollution are among the major contributors to the increasing number of cases. In many regions, the impact is intensified by low awareness levels, delayed detection, and restricted access to cost-effective treatment.

The rally aimed to inspire the community to adopt preventive measures and seek medical advice at an early stage. The event was formally flagged off by  Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar and Dilip, marking a collective commitment to the fight against cancer and reinforcing the message that awareness and unity can save lives.
