JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Results Update: Tie-Breaking Criteria Explained
New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to declare the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 results soon, likely on April 20. After the announcement, candidates will be able to access their scorecards through the official website — jeemain.nta.nic.in.
The scorecard will display essential information such as the candidate’s name, roll number, application ID, exam session, paper details, subject-wise percentile scores, overall NTA score, All India Rank (AIR), category rank (if applicable), and qualification status for JEE Advanced 2026.
As many candidates tend to achieve identical scores, NTA follows a structured tie-breaking policy to assign ranks fairly. This process is crucial as it directly impacts admission and counselling opportunities.
Paper 1 (BE/BTech): Exam Format & Tie-Breaking Method
JEE Main Paper 1 is conducted in an online (CBT) format and includes three subjects — Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each subject is divided into:
-
Section A: 20 multiple-choice questions
-
Section B: 5 numerical value-based questions
Altogether, the paper contains 75 questions with a total of 300 marks.
When two or more candidates secure the same percentile score, NTA applies specific criteria, such as subject-wise performance, to break the tie and determine the final ranking.
Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for updates and download their results promptly once released.
