Kerala one of the tourist destinations in India, faced a dangerous disaster. On the early times of Tuesday in Wayanad district, one of the districts much known for its heart-stealing landscapes and richness in culture, is undergoing a crisis unlike anything remembered in history.
Widespread devastation was reported in areas such as Mundakkai, Attamala, Chooralmala, and Kunhome. Homes were submerged, and roads had disappeared entirely. The collapse of a critical bridge significantly impeded rescue efforts in this context.
By floods in Kerala, so many people are died and injured. Today is the third day of the floods, this disaster has killed 178 lives and 190 people are missing. More than 100 were injured.
The Army engineers hurriedly built a 58-meter bridge to transport heavy machinery from the nearby town of Chooralmala to the impacted area of Mundakkai. This action was necessary after the rising waters of a local river swept away a temporary bridge on Wednesday.
The landslides on Tuesday had washed away the main bridge, leaving the Mundakkai area completely cut off. However, the Indian army has been working tirelessly to construct a new metal bridge to restore access. V.T. Mathew, a senior army official overseeing the rescue operations, told the ANI news agency that the new bridge is nearing completion. He expressed optimism, stating that once the bridge is up, it will make a significant difference. With the bridge in place, the army will be able to bring in all the necessary equipment to the affected site, which will then allow them to intensify the search and rescue efforts to find any survivors or recover victims. The senior official's words conveyed a sense of determination and hope amidst the devastation caused by the landslides in the region.
Soldiers completed the Bridge Construction in just 36 hours.
