All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Rebel Faction Backs Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam Government Ahead of Floor Test

Political tensions in Tamil Nadu intensified on Tuesday after a major rebel faction of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam announced its support for the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government ahead of a crucial Assembly floor test.

The rebel camp is being led by senior AIADMK leaders and former ministers C. Ve. Shanmugam and S. P. Velumani. Addressing the media in Chennai, the leaders confirmed their decision to extend support to the TVK administration, marking a major setback for AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Several prominent party figures, including C. Vijayabhaskar and R. Kamaraj, were also present during the announcement, indicating widening cracks within the AIADMK leadership.

According to the rebel leaders, their decision was influenced by the recent Assembly election results and the evolving political situation in the state. They accused Edappadi K. Palaniswami of attempting to align politically with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, a party traditionally considered a long-time rival of the AIADMK.
