AAP Interacts with MGNREGA Workers, Hears Grievances

Members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held an extensive interaction with workers employed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), aiming to better understand the ground realities of the rural employment programme.

During the meeting, workers highlighted several pressing concerns, including delays in wage disbursement, limited allocation of workdays, and technical issues linked to attendance and payment systems. Some workers also spoke about challenges in updating job cards, accessing work opportunities on time, and the rising cost of living that makes timely payments even more crucial for their families.

AAP representatives noted that MGNREGA serves as a vital safety net for rural households, particularly during periods of economic uncertainty. They stressed the importance of ensuring transparency in fund allocation, accountability at the local administrative level, and smoother coordination between officials and beneficiaries. Party leaders assured workers that their grievances would be documented and raised with the appropriate authorities.

The interaction also focused on creating awareness among workers about their rights under the scheme, including guaranteed minimum days of employment and provisions for unemployment allowances if work is not provided within the stipulated time.
