India Weather Update: Hyderabad Flooded After Heavy Rainfall, More Showers Expected in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi

Several parts of India are witnessing changing weather conditions as the southwest monsoon continues to advance across the country. While Hyderabad experienced intense rainfall that led to widespread waterlogging and traffic disruptions, major cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi are also expected to receive rain and thunderstorms in the coming days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for multiple districts in Telangana, warning residents about heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Authorities have advised people to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of severe weather.

Hyderabad Faces Waterlogging and Traffic Chaos

Heavy rainfall lashed Hyderabad on Tuesday evening, causing significant disruption across the city. Several roads were submerged due to waterlogging, resulting in long traffic jams and delays during peak hours. Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds further worsened conditions in many localities.

The continuous downpour overwhelmed drainage systems in some areas, leaving commuters stranded and affecting daily activities. Emergency teams were deployed to monitor vulnerable locations and assist residents facing difficulties due to the weather.

Tragic Deaths Reported During Rainfall

The severe weather also led to a tragic incident in Hyderabad's Mylardevpally area. According to reports, two people lost their lives after coming into contact with a live electrical wire submerged in rainwater.

The accident reportedly occurred when a low-tension streetlight cable was damaged during drainage excavation work. The fallen wire remained hidden beneath accumulated rainwater on the road, creating a dangerous situation for pedestrians. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Rain Forecast for Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi

Meteorologists predict that Bengaluru may witness scattered rainfall, cloudy skies, and occasional thunderstorms over the next few days. The showers are expected to bring some relief from warm daytime temperatures.

Mumbai is also likely to experience monsoon activity with moderate to heavy rainfall in several areas. Residents are advised to prepare for possible traffic congestion and localised flooding during periods of heavy rain.

Meanwhile, Delhi is expected to continue experiencing hot and humid weather conditions, with chances of thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall. The arrival of monsoon showers could provide much-needed respite from the summer heat.

IMD Advises Vigilance

Weather officials continue to monitor the evolving monsoon situation closely. Citizens in affected regions are encouraged to stay updated with official forecasts, avoid waterlogged areas, and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.

As the monsoon strengthens across India, more cities are expected to receive rainfall in the coming weeks, bringing both relief from high temperatures and challenges related to flooding and transportation disruptions.
