Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has launched the Honda Shine 100 DX, a budget-friendly commuter bike aimed at everyday riders and urban commuters. Positioned below the popular Honda Livo, this bike aims to strengthen Honda’s presence in the highly competitive 100cc segment, going head-to-head with models like the Hero Splendor and Bajaj Platina 100.

Design and Styling

The Shine 100 DX features a classic commuter design, enhanced with updated styling elements to give it a more modern and attractive look.It features a prominent headlamp with chrome accents, encased within a plastic body that blends utility with style. The slim fuel tank holds 10 litres, smoothly merging into a comfortable single-piece seat. Honda offers four attractive color choices: Pearl Igneous Black, Imperial Red Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic, and Geny Gray Metallic, giving buyers a range of options to suit their preferences.

Features and Ergonomics

One of the standout features of the Shine 100 DX is its fully digital LCD instrument cluster. This modern display offers essential information such as real-time mileage, distance-to-empty, and more, making it easier for riders to keep track of their journey. The bike’s handling benefits from a tight 1.9-meter turning radius, perfect for city traffic and tight corners. For suspension, Honda has equipped the bike with telescopic front forks and twin-shock absorbers at the rear, aiming to provide a smooth and balanced ride on various road conditions.

Performance and Mechanics

Under the hood, the Shine 100 DX is powered by a 98.98cc single-cylinder engine that generates 7 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and a torque of 8.04 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 4-speed gearbox featuring a multiplate wet clutch for smooth gear shifts. Riders can start the bike using either a self-start button or a traditional kick-start, catering to different preferences. The bike is built on a diamond-type frame, designed to provide rigidity and stability.

Braking and Tires

For safety, the Shine 100 DX relies on drum brakes on both the front and rear wheels. It also comes fitted with tubeless tires, which are known to reduce the chances of sudden air loss and offer better puncture resistance — a valuable feature for daily commuting.
