Homemade Double Chocolate Chip Ragi Cookies are a perfect blend of rich chocolate flavor and the wholesome goodness of ragi. Ingredients

  • 1 cup ragi (finger millet) flour

  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ cup jaggery powder or coconut sugar

  • ⅓ cup olive oil or melted ghee

  • 2–3 tablespoons milk (as needed)

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla essence

  • ¼ cup dark chocolate chips

Preparation Method

Step 1: Prepare the dry mix

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ragi flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.

  • Whisk well so everything blends evenly.

Step 2: Prepare the wet mix

  • In another bowl, whisk together jaggery powder and olive oil (or ghee) until smooth.

  • Add vanilla essence and mix again.

Step 3: Make the dough

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.

  • Add milk little by little until you get a soft dough consistency.

  • Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips.

Step 4: Shape the cookies

  • Preheat the oven to 170 °C (340 °F).

  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  • Scoop small portions of dough, roll into balls, and flatten them slightly on the tray.

Step 5: Bake

  • Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the edges turn slightly crisp.

  • Let the cookies cool on a wire rack; they will firm up more as they cool.

Tips

  • Use jaggery or coconut sugar to keep them naturally sweet.

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or sea salt.
