Sadly, Vinesh Phogat is disqualified from the finals in women’s wrestling. She is disqualified from the Paris Olympics due to being overweight in the 50kg gold medal match. According to reports, her weight is 100 grams more than the allowed limit is the reason for her disqualification.

She is disqualified for gold and bronze medals in the 50 kg category. She is also not eligible for a silver medal. It was a heartbreaking incident for Indians. Indians are fixed that she wins a medal, unexpectedly this happens. She doesn’t get any medals in this final. 

Vinesh in her career, won several achievements, including three Commonwealth Games (2014, 2018, and 2022), two bronze medals in world championships, and gold and silver medals in 2018 and 2014 at the Asian Games.

Now the gold medal is awarded to America’s S. Hildebrandt. 

Indian Olympics Association said “A sense of disappointment washed over the Indian Contingent as news spread that Vinesh Phogat, a top contender in women's wrestling (50kg), would no longer be competing in the Paris Olympics 2024 due to disqualification. She was just a few grams more excessive than 50 kg. For now, no additional remarks will be forthcoming. The Indian team requests respect for her privacy and will focus on ongoing events.”
